Further adventures in 3D printing, drones, and a NES game rebuilt in Rust.

Welcome

The same team who brought us the 3D printed AK47 has done it again, this time bringing the Salvaged Axe into the real world as if by magic. Or, you know, technology. As before, Sergey Kolesnik crafted the 3D model, MyMiniFactory printed it, and Sarah Wade made it look amazing. All wrangled together by Pavel Konstantinov. Here’s how it came about.

Amazing stuff once again, especially as the files are free for anyone to make their own version.

Dick Hunt

Moustachioed community elder Ruigi has always engaged in the alchemy of turning Rust into other games. He’s previously crafted a Goldeneye clone using Rust’s building tools, and now he’s working on a Rust version of Duck Hunt, creatively titled Dick Hunt. In his gamemode, the ducks are NPCs running through fields of targets. As the video shows, it can be a tad involved setting up, but I was enthralled at all the work he put into a pun.

All the plug-ins are linked on the video’s page, so if you have an Oxide server you too can set this up.

Speaking of classics, this isn’t quite the same, but seeing Rust running in a Street Fighter II cabinet is really neat.

Drone

A few weeks ago, we showed off a community Drone concept as well as the Brunt Force Trauma team’s more out there concept ideas. Well, they got together and made something about drones in Rust. Just like Dick Hunt, there are dicks.

This has some sexual content, and I generally don’t link to videos with that, but the drone stuff is really fun. So hit play only if you’re comfortable with the loving embrace of men.

They probably should get a shack for that.

Arustrocats

Wow! This Rust clan banner, according to Swizzeey is what you get when you’re better at Photoshop than Rust. It’s incredibly well done. Click for the full thing.

That reminds me of a joke…

… And Finally

Grenade kills tend to be lucky kills, but this is one of the luckiest I’ve seen.

You are best at tossing, honorabl3.

Get In Touch

Think you’re working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Now’s the time to share your base designs, or get into the growing Raid Cam business, or show off a game-mode from your server, or if your server has an interesting theme.

There’s a dedicated forum post, or you can fish for upvotes in the Subreddit. I also shuffle around the the Steam Community, so feel free to show me to things from there. You can follow and respond to Rust on Twitter, and I’m on there as well.

I can’t respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
